Did you actually read 'em?
Personally, I think he has a very good point. I've got nothing against Goths, exactly. I don't think they're horrible people. I have Goth friends. Hell, I've been a Goth Vampire for Halloween (it was really easy to pull together on short notice). But as far as I'm concerned, they're exactly the same as all the Abercrombie & Fitch wearing people, because the movement boils down to nothing more than an aesthetic. If I, personally, have to identify myself with a subculture, it would be punk, and coming from a movement that has activist motivations, I tend not to think too highly of those that don't do anything (see especially: emo).
Now, don't get me wrong - I'm not saying that Goths can't be activists. But Gothic subculture qua Gothic subculture is not.

And, apologies, but "Goths are generally nice people. They're honest, direct, dependable, and self sufficient. Goths are usually very well educated, and many cases, Goths are the ones that run alot of the stores, and corporations that hire the people that end up slandering them"? Do you realize how incredibly arrogant this sounds?

I think my problem with Goths boils down to two attitude: arrogance and entitlement. On the first: Goths are normal people. They are not any more or less smart, any more or less capable than other people. As for the latter, if you choose to participate in a subculture that clearly differentiates itself from the mainstream, you can't do anything but expect to be treated differently. All you can expect is that people will extend to you the same rights as others. That doesn't mean you should walk down the street and expect that people aren't going to look at you funny.

*chuckles* I think you've experienced the 'dark-side' of the gothic subculture and have missed the entire section of us that the article I quoted was talking about. ;)

Next time you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, look me up and I'll take you out on the town for a night.

Oh, and go check http://www.digitalgoth.com/... That's what I do in my spare time.
