The Sisters of Mercy.

That was... an incident. I can't say it was a concert, because that would imply that I saw a group/individual on stage performing their stuff. I didn't. What I saw was a lot of smoke, some vague shapes on stage, and a guitar player that had to stop strumming to fix his hair twice, yet the guitar didn't stop making noise. Uncle Andy was almost completely invisible the entire show due to the mass amounts of smoke that they were pouring onstage from -3- separate smoke machines. I think the other guitarist was on the right side of the stage, but I only really caught a vague hint of a human shape over there once or twice. The sound technician working the mixing board I caught a glimpse of two or three times was wearing sunglasses and staring at the board in the middle of the smoke. It's no wonder that they had sound level issues throughout the show. All in all, I'd say it turned out to be a debacle more than the spectacle I was expecting.

The worst part of it is that I have no doubt that I saw exactly the show that Uncle Andy intended us to see.

Good night Sisters Of Mercy, your time has come and gone. It's time to throw in your chips and cash-out.

you summed it up perfectly. from upstairs, one of our friends said it was the crotch singing the whole time. i was on a table (next to the deathguild crew) with a view of mostly smoke, not crotch. the sound was horrible.

That concert(?) was like watching a kitten being put into a blender feet-first.

Sounds about like the SD show... I think the smoke has something to do with insecurity about his age -- they asked one of the photogs not to take pictures of him. Heh.

Glad I was too sick to go. I went around 10 years ago, not expecting much from a goth band (albeit one of my favorite goth bands) after their hey day. I'm always skeptical about reunion shows. Seems to me it's about the timing and circumstance as much as anything. However, I was utterly blown away by what stage presence they had. Andrew was amazing. His voice rang out with glorious pain with perfect pitch all night. The music was thunderous, as one would hope it to be. It was beautiful. Later, a friend of his told me about the 8 balls being consumed back stage before the show. Maybe 10 years of the same haven't been kind. Cracks me up about the fog--how *spooky*. --Used to be a popular trick. Remember Spinal Tap?
