Looks nice. Sorry I didn't tell you that before you slept.

Thankya. :) I'm going to get to work on the next one in the next couple days... Going to try for a more... um.... 'ominous' look for the next couple to try to appeal to a different crowd.

The curvature is a nice effect, though I would enlarge the print for some of the far-off lettering which is a little hard to read

Re: ;-)
It's good and readable when printed. Have no worries about that. :) I'll get some out to the group in the next few days for passing out at events. You going to be at Affliction?

Not about the flyer, but...
Clicking the "create an account" link gives me the message "You are trying to access a restricted area. We are Sorry, but this section of our site is for Registered Users Only. You can register for free by clicking here..." page, and clicking "here" brings me to the same place.

On another note, has it really been almost a year since you quit smoking? Awesome! :)

Re: Not about the flyer, but...
Well, good to know about the bad link. That'll be fixed when I relaunch the updated site: http://www.lalunarouge.com/2.0/

On that other note, I've been smoking cloves for a couple months. A pack lasts me about 2 weeks, and I haven't really reached the "one clove a day" point yet. I smoke now becuase I like it, no longer because I'm addicted to a pack a day.

Looks Cool
Looks cool, though I'm a bit partial to circles, pits and tunnels... especially when they lead to dark places that you can loose yourself in, are used to collect the blood from a sacrafice, or for a sacrificial fire. So, the new one is a bit bright and more... cheery for lack of a better word. However, as Goth is no longer on the music list, I guess letting there be some light makes sense.

Just curious, is this curved hallway in the Lounge, or taken from somewhere else? If it's in it, then cool get some bonus points there. Though it would be cooler if there was a red curtain on the window that would make it a bit darker and changed the lighting to red.

As for the way the text wraps around the curve, very smooth, though you could make a it a bit bigger, and use the window inset as the top max for the text on the floor. Heh, I mean about where the light is on the floor and keep the curve.

The other major thing I noticed is that they're advertising that its free before 10pm now. Sweet!

Re: Looks Cool
Thankya for the feedback. I'll put that to use on the next one I decide to spend more than 6 hours on. :)

The picture itself is from a monastery in Europe actually.

Given that the printed flyer is actually about 5"x3.75", it's all rather readable. It looks quite a bit more impressive in print than it does on the screen... The screen being 72dpi, and my printed flyers being 600dpi...

Re: Looks Cool
Heheh, I need to take work breaks during the day/night as I don't often leave the office, so always fun to offer opinions. Wow! 6 hours! Kick ass work for that time!

Ooo an European monastary... whats the history of that monestary? Was it cursed? Was it forced to close for a while because of uncovered dark practices? Is is famous? Is it truly a holy place? Is is named after the harvest moon or is its patron saint St. Anthony of Padua (for harvest) or St. Cecilia (for sacred music).

Basically, is it just a cool pic or does it somehow relate to La Luna Rouge? I've always been interested in depth, layers and connections, hence the question. :)

Ah k, cool glad its so easy to read then.

Re: Looks Cool
hmm, just remembered... Celilia died a vergin even though she got married, so even tho she is the patron saint of sacred music, muscians, poets and singers probably not the best choice for a fun young dance club.

Wait, St. Vitus he's the patron for dancers. Heheh, along with epilectics (now there's a dance), actors and protection from storms (always good in SF).

Re: Looks Cool
Hmmm... I might have to have an "All Saints Night" sometime soon as our theme.... *ponders new flyer design involving gothic church architecture and gargoyles...*

Re: Looks Cool
I know the flyer would definitely kick ass with some old gothic architecture, soo many to pick from... Threadwalker maybe able to tell ya a few good ones, if you don't already have some in mind.

"All Saints Night" It would be fun... there are quite a few different saints, the question is would they come as they were before death (all good and saintly), how they died (all bloody, burned, mauled, ect.), or for those pagans like St Augustine how they were before they converted (fun).

Give me chastity and continence, but not yet.
-- St. Augustine

Heheh. Or you people could come representing what the saint is a patron of... Or just say screw it and wear togas :D TOGA TOGA TOGA!!!

In any case, good luck and have fun.

Re: Looks Cool
Actually, there's not connection whatsoever. I just really liked the picture so I went and got the copyrights for it so I could use it. I don't know what monastery, just that it's "a monastery in northern Europe."... :)

I'm still looking for a new picture to use for my next flyer though...

All of these are going into a portfolio of my work for possible future use to edge my way into a real job. ;)

Re: Looks Cool
Well there is the St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague and there is a monastery to St. Vitus in Rome. I'm sure there must some pics of them somewhere. Though, if you can't find any good ones... you know what that means? PHOTO TRIP!!! Heheh, see if you can get a gov't grant to go take pics of beautiful places to support some such cause, there as we do have a rather Christian prez it maybe not so difficult, and keep the negatives for yourself.

Just a thought, and besides, you can probably find some other really cool places that you could use as backgrounds for you work too. Especially, if you're into that old architecture and ruins, those ashen faces of Palermo come to mind...
