Theater??!!

If you had the option of showing a movie on the big screen for yourself and some friends, and could choose any movie on dvd what movie would you show?

(Yes, I'm serious. And yes, I'm going to.)

That would have to be Young Frankenstein or Murder by Death.

Something funny, with a lot of camera/sound subtleties, like Shaun of the Dead, or Snatch

OR a super cheesy b-movie, like Dawn of the Dead (original) or Evil Dead.

Sin City was awesome on big screen. hmm. I could think harder but I should be doing me problem set :p

Something very visually tantalizing like Sin City, Mirrormask, or Pan's Labyrinth.

Yeah, if you're going to have a big screen, use it for something that NEEDS a muthafuckin' big screen.

I would have to pick ELVES, a bad b-movie horror film starring GRIZZLY ADAMS' Dan Haggerty as a chain smoking renegade, loose cannon mall cop turned mall Santa out to solve a mystery involving a young virgin, Nazi genetic experiments, and magically summoned elves. The truth is more horrible than you could suspect. Or maybe you could, I don't know.

Serenity.

But then, that's been done...

Or maybe Fight Club.

Serenity... but I would have alternative motives for doing so.

300.. but only if it was IMAX.

Master and Commander (really needs to be see in a theater).

-Tod Browning's Freaks
-Irreversible (I saw it first on the big screen and on the little screen it doesn't have nearly the same effect)
-Microcosmos
-Oldboy (there has to be one Korean movie on this list)

-not necessarily in that order

You might consider Blood Diamond. Here's what it delivers: violence, romance, intrigue, and a believable, well-scripted and well-acted personal transformation that opens possibilities for social transformation. And it's all based on a situation that really exists.
